About the Programme . . .
The International Baccalaureate Organization is a nonprofit educational foundation, motivated by its mission, and focused on the student. Their three programs help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet help to create a better and more peaceful world. IB offers high quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools. Currently there are more than 659,000 IB students at 3,288 schools in 141 countries.
IBO Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The ideal International Baccalaureate student combines intellectual potential with motivation and a love of learning. It is recommended that in-coming ninth grade students meet the following standards:
- 3.0 or better GPA in grades 7-8;
- High motivation as demonstrated by excellent attendance and exemplary conduct.
For transferring tenth and eleventh grade students, they have must have taken the preparatory honors courses and Language Acquisition B, science, and math prerequisites.

International Baccaluareate Options at LCHS
"IB Pre-IB Diploma Programme"
"IB Pre-Diploma" consists of ninth and tenth graders who are taking preparatory classes before they begin the International Baccalaureate Programme in their junior year. Those courses consist of : Honors English, Honors Biology, Honors World Geography, Honors World History, and appropriate Language Acquisition B, math and science classes.
