Introduction to research

What is research at Laguna Creek High School?

At Laguna Creek High School, students research a variety of topics in a variety of ways.  They are asked to gather information for several purposes: to present to a class, to write formal research, to learn basic information and to analyze literature are among the many reasons that students come to the library to do research.

All research follows the same basic process which begin with choosing a topic.   The most important idea to keep in mind when faced with a research assignment is to choose a topic that interests you as much as you can within the guidelines of the assignment.  The more you desire to find information about a particular topic, the easier it will be to complete your assignment and earn a good grade.   Once the topic is chosen, it is important to plan your time well and stay organized!  The best projects are completed in small steps along the way in an organized manner. The worst projects are completed at the last minute in a scattered manner.

This research guide on the Laguna Creek High Library webpage is designed to provide tools to students that help them complete their research in an organized, thoughtful way.
