Cardinal RED Summer Bridge

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We are excited to offer your student an opportunity to attend the Cardinal RED Summer Bridge Program at Laguna Creek High School. This is a free summer program designed to help students successfully transition from middle school to high school both academically and socially.  Research suggests that many incoming freshmen are ill prepared for the rigors of high school and that this lack of preparation contributes to higher dropout rates and lower academic success.  Laguna Creek High School is committed to addressing this issue and believes that a solid introduction to 9th grade will contribute towards academic success in high school.

The goals of the Cardinal RED Summer Bridge Program are:

  • To assist ninth grade student’s transition from middle school to the academically challenging high school environment.
  • To introduce students to high school faculty and staff who will be teaching in the Summer Bridge Program or working with freshmen during the school year.
  • To expose students to and engage them in a preview of the 9th grade curriculum and learning experience.
  • To provide students with an opportunity to begin building community with other students.

The program will run July 28 – July 31, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Attendance and student discipline will be closely monitored and students may be removed from the program at the discretion of LCHS school administration. Further, Laguna Creek High School Code of Student conduct as well as any other school rules will be enforced while students are participating in the program.

Transportation/Food: Transportation to and from school is the responsibility of parent/student. Free and reduced lunch and breakfast is available to qualified students. Breakfast will be served from 7:45a to 8:10a.

Behavior Policy: Students are required to follow the EGUSD and LCHS student Code of Conduct. Students may be removed from the program for defiant and disruptive behavior.

Cell Phone/Dress Code: Cell phone use is only allowed before school, after school and during breaks. LCHS Dress Code policy will be strictly enforced; please visit https://lchs.schoolloop.com/0910info and view page 22-23 of the LCHS Student Handbook. Students may be removed from the program for violating these policies.
