Laguna Creek High School is asking for your help in bringing Google Cardboard © and Google Expeditions © to our classrooms for the 2017-2018 academic year.

In support of our mission to develop inquiring, knowledge, and caring young people who attain academic excellence, and help create a more peaceful world, Laguna Creek will be incorporating VR (Virtual Reality) Learning in our classrooms using Google Cardboard and Google Expeditions VR Field Trips.

With this technology, your student will be able to be visit ancient civilizations, experience a rainforest or travel within the human heart.  All from the comfort of their desk!!

But we need your help.  In order to offer experiences like this, class sets of smartphones and VR devices are needed.  If you have recently or are thinking about upgrading your smartphone, think about donating your old device to the school instead of tossing it away or putting it in your junk draw at home.

Attached is the donation flier and a question/answer sheet.  Please share this with friends and family.  For any questions, please contact Diana Brooks in the science department at dilbrook@egusd.net.

Thank you in advance for supporting the students at Laguna Creek High.

Dear Parents.

We have not had any outbreaks of lice at Laguna Creek High School, but the District has requested that all schools send out an informational letter which I have pasted below.  If you have any questions, please contact our Health Technician, Leilani Loreto at lloreto@egusd.net.

Sincerely

Doug Craig

Head Lice Information

Head lice occur commonly among school-age children.  Head lice are not a sign of poor hygiene and anyone can get them.  Lice do not transmit infections and do not pose a risk to a person’s health.  Lice can be passed from person to person by direct head-to-head contact or by sharing clothing with lice on them.  Head lice can cause itching and are most commonly found on the back of the head, neck, or behind the ears.

The Elk Grove Unified School District has a “NO LIVE HEAD LICE” procedure.  This means when a student is found to have live head lice, the parent is notified. The student is sent home from school.  The parent is instructed to treat their student for lice before returning to school.

Readmission is contingent on the student passing a head lice re-screening.

We recommend that you periodically check your student’s and other members of your household for lice.  If your student or anyone in the household has head lice, complete the following instructions listed below.

Treatment for Head Lice

Several medicated shampoos or cream rinses are effective at killing lice.  Products containing permethrin or pyrethrins are available over-the-counter.  Follow the manufacturer’s instructions found on the product label.  It is recommended to re-treat after 7-10 days to assure that no eggs have survived.  Consult your healthcare provider if you are having difficulties getting rid of your child’s head lice.

If you have any questions or concerns, please consult with your healthcare provider or the credentialed school nurse.

Sincerely,

Susan Lebon

Elk Grove Unified School Nurse
